Background
Burris Logistics is one of the largest temperature-controlled food distribution companies in the United States, handling fresh and frozen products for customers nationwide. Founded in 1925, the company is still family-run today, now led by the fifth generation of the Burris family, and employs more than 2,000 people across the country.
With that many people sending email on the company's behalf every day, Burris Logistics needed every email signature to look the same, no matter who sent it or where they worked. Getting there wasn't as simple as writing a policy and hoping everyone followed it.
Before & after
Before
Employees building their own, off-brand email signatures
A written email signature policy nobody consistently followed
No way to check or correct 2,000+ signatures by hand
A fix that had to work natively inside Google Workspace, ruling out most tools built for Microsoft
After
Every email signature centrally set and automatically applied
One on-brand template, with no room to improvise
Full companywide coverage without checking a single inbox
Deployed natively on Google Workspace, with no migration required
Burris Logistics' challenge
Burris Logistics employs people across the U.S., so they had found updating email signatures difficult. While they had a standard procedure in place, employees would ignore instructions and create templates that were off-brand.
Inconsistent branding: Despite a company-wide email signature policy, employees kept building their own versions. Every one shipped a slightly different Burris Logistics to the outside world.
No practical way to enforce it at scale: With 2,000+ people across the country, checking or correcting signatures individually wasn't something any team had the bandwidth for.
A Google Workspace-only pool of options: The fix had to work natively inside Google Workspace, which narrowed the field considerably.
No appetite for a blind leap: With that many people depending on it working, Burris Logistics needed to see it succeed on a smaller scale before betting the whole company on it.
The results
2,000+
employees with one, centrally managed email signature
4x
scale-up from the initial pilot to full rollout
Zero
new email signature policies needed since rollout
How Exclaimer helped
Burris Logistics had acquired Streamline Logistics, an Iowa freight company already running its email signatures through Exclaimer on Google Workspace. Streamline's team knew exactly what the product could do, and pushed for Burris Logistics to use it too.
Being a Google shop, Burris Logistics wanted proof before it committed companywide. So Exclaimer helped set up a pilot for 500 users first, with support on hand throughout. The trial ran cleanly, and Burris Logistics moved fast from there.
With Exclaimer, Burris Logistics can:
Deploy natively on Google Workspace, matching the platform Burris Logistics already ran on, with no migration required.
Prove it on a smaller scale first, testing with 500 users before asking IT to commit the other 1,500+.
Scale to the full workforce fast, rolling out to every employee once the pilot held up.
Replace a policy with a system, so consistency no longer depended on employees remembering the rules.
